Generation Esports and MiHSEF Announce Competitive Feeder System and Curriculum Partnership

Generation Esports, home of Gaming Concepts and the High School Esports League (HSEL), and the Michigan High School Esports Federation (MiHSEF) have formed a strategic partnership aimed at raising the bar for high school esports education and competition across Michigan.

This partnership introduces an innovative competitive feeder system that will elevate MiHSEF state champions to the prestigious HSEL Premier League in the Spring. This initiative offers athletes the chance to secure a spot at the HSEL Nationals, creating a structured pathway from state to regional to national competitions. Top performers will have the opportunity to showcase their talents on a national stage, attract attention from college scouts, and receive increased support from their scholastic community.

From Dakota VandenToorn, President of MiHSEF: “We are excited to partner with Generation Esports, endorsing Gaming Concepts as the recommended curriculum for our schools and providing our state champions with an auto bid into the High School Esports League Premier 2025. This collaboration not only enhances our educational offerings but also gives our students the opportunity to compete for a chance to participate in [HSEL Nationals]. This partnership significantly expands our ability to offer enriching and competitive experiences, furthering our mission to empower Michigan's students through esports.”

Beyond competitive advancements, this collaboration will expand the implementation of the Gaming Concepts curriculum in schools throughout Michigan. Integrating students’ passion for esports and gaming with traditional STEM and CTE subjects, Gaming Concepts has become the #1 selling scholastic gaming curriculum in the United States. The program not only boosts attendance rates and grade point averages but also includes evidence-based "Mental Health Moments" designed to offer students preventative mental health support

Mason Mullenioux, CEO of Generation Esports, stated, “At Generation Esports, we believe in the transformative power of gaming to enhance education. We are thrilled to partner with MiHSEF to elevate the level of high school esports excellence they have established in Michigan. The additional offering of our Gaming Concepts courses will lead to improved academic engagement and provide crucial preventative mental health support for students. This partnership will not only boost competitive play but also ensure that students receive a well-rounded, future-ready education.”

By combining rigorous in-class education with high-level competitive play, this partnership aims to set a new benchmark for high school esports. It will provide unparalleled opportunities for student-athletes to excel both academically and competitively, ensuring they are well-prepared for future success.
